The Nursing Department at Calhoun will implement new criteria mandated by Department of Post secondary Education for nursing admission. Students will be required to take a nurse entrance test- Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V) created by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI). The TEAS V will replace the COMPASS reading score as one of the components for calculation of admission scores. The COMPASS must still be given for academic placement for English and Math courses. The TEAS score is good for three (3) years. A student may repeat the TEAS once during the semester. Students must wait six weeks between taking the each test. There will be no cut off score for the TEAS test. A copy of the TEAS score must accompany nursing application. Click here for more information regarding the TEAS V.
Calhoun Community College admitted their first spring class in January 2010. The spring admission has been a success thus far for faculty and students. However after reassessment of application process, we have decided to implement a second application period for the spring. In July 2010, there will be an application placed online for the spring admission into Associate Degree Nursing Program. The application will be available from July until October 15, 2010 deadline date. Admission requirements will remain the same as for the fall nursing application with the exception of the TEAS testing score. The Nursing Department will accept coursework from the spring and summer semester prior to application deadline. The deadline date for accepting applications will be October 15 at 12:00 noon. |
